James Gunn and Peter Safran have unveiled part of their new DC Universe, which features a project centered around the hero, Booster Gold. Many fans are hoping that Chris Pratt, known for his role as Star-Lord in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, will be cast as Booster Gold.
Gunn has stated that members of his “family” from Guardians of the Galaxy may be joining him in the DC Universe at some point.
Despite receiving criticism for being involved in multiple franchises, including the recent Super Mario Bros. film, fans are eager to see Pratt take on another superhero role as Booster Gold.
Chris Pratt as Booster Gold?
In James Gunn and Peter Safran’s recent announcement, they disclosed part of their first Chapter in the DC Universe, named God and Monsters. The Chapter includes a new TV series titled Booster Gold, which will center around Mike Carter, described by Safran as “a future underachiever.”
The series will follow Carter as he uses future technology to travel back in time and pose as a superhero. Gunn described the character as having “imposter syndrome” as a superhero.
The filmmakers have already been in touch with an actor for the role, but have not yet made any official announcement.
Given Gunn’s hope to work with some of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast in the new DC Universe, it is possible that an actor from that franchise may be cast. Many fans have speculated that Chris Pratt could be the chosen one for the role of Booster Gold.
Pratt Playing in Both DC & Marvel Sandboxes
Chris Pratt may embody the quirky and charismatic traits that Booster Gold is known for, but there is a significant difference in age between the actor and the character. Typically, Booster Gold is depicted as being in his twenties, while Pratt is 43 years old.
This may make a younger actor a more fitting choice for the role, given the potential longevity of the character in the DC Universe.
If Pratt does not end up playing Booster Gold, there are several other characters that would suit him well, such as Green Arrow, Adam Strange, or a Green Lantern in the hero category.
On the villain side, he could be a great fit for Reverse Flash or Captain Cold, roles that he has not yet explored. The release date for Booster Gold has not been officially announced, but it is expected to air after Superman: Legacy, which is slated for July 11, 2025.
