Indian Filmmakers Triumph at the Oscars

Indian filmmakers left their mark on the Oscars 2023, with Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga winning Best Documentary Short Film for ‘The Elephant Whisperers’. The biggest win of the night for India came when ‘Naatu Naatu’, a song from S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, won the Oscar for Best Original Song.

The live performance by singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava wowed the audience and earned them a standing ovation at the Dolby Theatre. M.M. Keeravani, the music director for ‘Naatu Naatu’, also received recognition for his outstanding contribution to the song.

Historic Wins at Oscars 2023

The Oscars 2023 also saw historic wins for several individuals. Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian woman to win the Best Actress Oscar Award, while Ruth E. Carter became the first Black woman to win multiple Oscars in any category.
