India is preparing to host the prestigious Miss World pageant this year, marking a significant return after a hiatus of 27 years since the last edition in 1996. The announcement was made on June 8 during a press conference in Delhi, where Miss World Organization Chairman Julia Morley and reigning Miss World 2022 Karolina Bielawska revealed India as the chosen destination. They were joined by Femina Miss India World 2022 winner Sini Shetty.
Expressing her excitement, Julia Morley stated, “I am thrilled to declare India as the new host for the 71st Miss World Final! Ever since my initial visit to this incredible country over 30 years ago, I have held a deep affection for India. We eagerly anticipate sharing India’s unique and diverse culture, its world-class attractions, and its breathtaking locations with the rest of the world.”
Interestingly, it had previously been confirmed that the United Arab Emirates would host this year’s event, making India’s selection a surprising twist.
Julia Morley’s decision to choose India as the host country stemmed from her recent visit on World Environment Day. During her time in India, she was captivated by the nation’s rich cultural heritage, unwavering commitment to promoting diversity, and dedicated efforts to empower women.
