How Did the Divit Aulakh Accident Happen?

The car hit a stationary municipal tractor-trolley that sanitation workers had parked on the flyover while collecting garbage overnight. According to PTC Punjabi, the Volkswagen was heading from BMC Chowk towards BSF Chowk when the collision happened.

The impact was severe. Divit and Aarav died at the spot, while the three other occupants escaped with minor injuries and later went home. Free Press Journal reported that police believe the car was travelling at high speed.

One heartbreaking detail came out later. Divit’s phone reportedly triggered its crash-detection feature and sent an alert with his location to his mother, his emergency contact. When relatives could not reach him, they found out what had happened through his friends.

What Police Said

Baradari Police Station SHO Sahil Chaudhary confirmed the call came in at around 3 am and that the trolley was parked on the flyover during the cleaning operation. Police took the bodies into custody and completed formalities. Both families declined further legal action, and the bodies were handed over to them.

Who Was Divit Aulakh?

Divit Aulakh was the son of Dinesh Aulakh, owner and managing director of Speed Records, one of the biggest labels in Punjabi music. He was 18. His brother, Mannan, lives abroad, and the family delayed the cremation until he could reach Jalandhar.

Divit Aulakh and Honey Singh

Most reports call Divit Yo Yo Honey Singh’s nephew. News outlets have not spelled out the exact family link; the bond runs through Honey Singh’s long, close ties with Dinesh Aulakh and Speed Records.

Honey Singh cut short his engagements in Dubai and rushed to Jalandhar on Monday. Videos show him stepping out of his car and hugging Dinesh Aulakh as both men broke down. He shared a childhood photo of Divit with the caption “RIP. Sada puttar” and later called this a “dark decade” for him. (Honey Singh’s latest work includes the Casa Tupka anthem.)

Singers Parmish Verma and Resham Singh Anmol also visited the Aulakh home.
