Kartik Aaryan and Kabir Khan, the team behind Chandu Champion, are back. Ananya Birla’s Birla Studios announced on 4 November that the pair’s next film is called Ladaku, an inspirational real-life story that will release worldwide in theatres on 18 June 2027.

What Is Ladaku About?
The makers have only described it as a heart-tugging, inspiring film based on real events. According to Sacnilk, Ladaku is reportedly based on the journey of Tajamul Islam, the kickboxer from Bandipora in Kashmir who became a world champion as a young girl. The makers haven’t confirmed this yet.
The title itself is a clue. Ladaku roughly means “fighter” in Hindi, and Kabir Khan has built his career on stories of people who rise above hard circumstances, from Bajrangi Bhaijaan to 83 and Chandu Champion.
Why the Kartik Aaryan–Kabir Khan Reunion Matters
Chandu Champion (2024), the story of India’s first Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar, changed how the industry saw Kartik. The role demanded a huge physical transformation, and it won him his first National Film Award for Best Actor. Coming back to the same director for another true sporting story is a clear bet on that winning formula.
Kartik Aaryan Turns Producer
Ladaku is also Kartik’s first film as a producer, through his new banner Dopamine Studios. It’s a sign of how far the actor has come, from a Gwalior outsider to a star who now backs his own projects.
