LONDON — British actor Micheal Ward, 27, best known for his roles in Top Boy, Blue Story, and the recent film Eddington, has been formally charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, UK police confirmed Friday. The charges relate to allegations made by one woman concerning an incident reportedly in January 2023.
The Metropolitan Police, acting on authorization from the Crown Prosecution Service, announced they are continuing to support the individual who made the complaint, recognizing the emotional toll such investigations can impose.

Ward, born in Jamaica and raised in East London, rose to prominence in the Netflix series Top Boy, won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020, and earned further nominations for Small Axe and Empire of Light. He has publicly denied all allegations, affirming his cooperation with the investigation and expressing confidence that he will be exonerated in court.
He is scheduled to appear before Thames Magistrates’ Court in London on August 28, 2025. Authorities have issued guidance urging responsible reporting, warning that commentary or sharing that could prejudice ongoing proceedings may contravene the Contempt of Court Act 1981.
