Plot of Night Swim
Night Swim, based on a lauded 2014 short film by Rod Blackhurst and Bryce McGuire, features Wyatt Russell (known for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) as Ray Waller. Ray, a former MLB player forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness, relocates with his concerned wife Eve (Kerry Condon), teenage daughter Izzy (Amélie Hoeferle), and young son Elliot (Gavin Warren).
Despite battling the odds and secretly aspiring to return to professional baseball, Ray convinces Eve that the new home’s glimmering backyard pool will be enjoyable for the kids and offer him much-needed physical therapy. Little do they know, a dark secret from the house’s past will unleash a malevolent force, plunging the family into inescapable terror.

The film’s opening weekend in the United States and Canada, with a projection of $9–11 million from 3,250 theaters, surpassed expectations. Night Swim earned $5.2 million on its initial day, inclusive of $1.45 million from Thursday night previews. Ultimately, it debuted at $12 million, securing the second position, trailing behind the continuing success of Wonka.
Interesting Facts About Night Swim Movie:
In 2018, the director, Rod Blackhurst, and writer, Bryce McGuire, successfully sold a feature-length adaptation of their 2014 short film Night Swim to James Wan’s Atomic Monster. McGuire is set to direct the film.
The actual house used as the family home in the movie does not have a complete connection to the garage, allowing the pool to be visible from the front yard. A facade was added to create the illusion of a unified structure and to conceal the pool from the front view.
Originally a four-minute short film released in 2014, Night Swim maintained the same title, writer, and director, featuring a narrative that evolved into a feature-length project.
