Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1: Ranbir-Yash Epic Opens at ₹64 Crore, Trails Adipurush

Last updated: 6 November 2026, 12:30 AM IST. These are early estimates; we’ll update this page with final Day 1 figures, worldwide numbers and every new day’s collection.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 1 has opened big. Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Yash as Ravan and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the epic collected an estimated ₹64.28 crore net in India on Day 1 (₹75.85 crore gross), according to early figures from trade tracker Sacnilk as of Thursday night.

That makes it one of the biggest Bollywood openings ever, but there’s a twist: it is still behind the opening day of Adipurush, the last big-screen retelling of the Ramayana.

Hindi brought in roughly 72% of the total, as expected. The surprise is Kannada: at ₹7.88 crore it out-earned Telugu, a clear sign of Yash’s pull in his home state.

Ramayana vs Adipurush: Did It Beat the Opening?

Not yet. Adipurush (2023) opened to ₹86.75 crore net in India (₹103.08 crore gross) on Sacnilk’s figures, about ₹22 crore more than Ramayana’s early estimate. Final numbers with late-night shows could narrow the gap, but crossing Adipurush on Day 1 now looks unlikely.

That comparison needs context, though. Adipurush’s opening was driven by Prabhas’ Telugu fanbase and huge curiosity, and then collapsed after brutal reviews. Ramayana’s reviews and audience reactions have been far kinder (read our Ramayana Part 1 review and the public review roundup), so its second day and first weekend matter more than the opening number.

Adipurush (2023)₹86.75 crore
Ramayana Part 1 (2026)₹64.28 crore (early estimate)

How Strong Was Ramayana’s Advance Booking?

The opening was built on huge pre-sales. Final Day 1 advance booking in India stood at ₹50.08 crore gross (₹42.96 crore without block seats), with 14.05 lakh tickets sold across 26,615 shows at an average ticket price of ₹357, per Sacnilk. That put it among the top two Bollywood advance bookings of all time, alongside Jawan.

  • Top markets: NCR (₹5.55 crore), Mumbai (₹4.42 crore) and Bengaluru (₹2.88 crore)
  • National chains: PVR Inox and Cinepolis sold 3.25 lakh Hindi tickets
  • Worldwide pre-sales: crossed ₹111 crore a day before release, according to Hollywood Reporter India

Ramayana Day 1 Occupancy

Overall occupancy was tracked at about 35% across all shows. In Hindi 3D, it rose through the day: 22.77% in the morning, 26.31% in the afternoon and 38.08% in the evening. Rising evening numbers usually mean positive word of mouth, a good sign for the weekend. Premium formats like IMAX 3D also pushed the average ticket price up.

Ramayana Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1

Official worldwide figures aren’t out yet. Before release, trade projections put Ramayana’s global opening at over ₹150 crore, with around ₹60 crore expected from overseas, where the film released in English as well as Hindi. North America was expected to be its strongest market abroad. We’ll add the confirmed worldwide total here as soon as it’s reported.

Ramayana Budget: How Much Does It Need to Earn?

Ramayana is the most expensive Indian film project ever attempted. Producer Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, has reportedly invested about ₹4,000 crore across both parts, including VFX by DNEG. (Read more in our piece on Namit Malhotra’s net worth.)

Because the cost is spread across two films, Part 1 doesn’t need to recover the whole amount on its own. But with a budget this size, it will need a long theatrical run, strong overseas numbers, and big digital and satellite deals to be called a hit.

What to Expect From Day 2 and the Weekend

Ramayana opened on a Thursday, giving it a four-day first weekend. Day 2 (Friday) usually dips slightly for a big opener, but its Saturday and Sunday numbers will show whether word of mouth is working. Rising evening occupancy and positive audience reactions point to a healthy hold, and the film has the run-up to Diwali ahead of it. It also avoided a direct clash in India with the new Godzilla film (here’s why).
