Ramayana Post-Credit Scene Explained: Sunny Deol’s Hanuman, the “Jai Shree Ram” Roar and the Part 2 Date

Short answer: yes, stay in your seat. Ramayana: Part 1 has a post-credits scene, and it’s the one moment of the film that the entire country is talking about tonight. If you walked out when the credits started, you missed Sunny Deol’s debut as Lord Hanuman.

Here’s everything about the Ramayana post-credit scene: when it plays, what happens, why you never see Hanuman’s face, and what it sets up for Part 2. Spoilers ahead, obviously.

Update (November 5, 2026): A clip of the post-credits scene has now gone viral on X and Instagram. It’s footage recorded in theatres, not an official release from the makers. The clip matches what we saw on the big screen: Hanuman’s face stays hidden, he leaps into the air and chants “Jai Shree Ram”. Neither the makers nor Sunny Deol have shared the scene officially yet, so the official face reveal is still to come.

First, What Happens Before the Credits

To understand the post-credits scene, you need the last few minutes of the film. As Ravan carries Sita away to Lanka, she drops her jewellery along the way, hoping it will leave a trail for Ram. Just before the credits, the film cuts to Kishkindha, the kingdom of the vanars, where Sugriv finds the fallen ornaments and hands them to Hanuman.

That handover is the bridge. In the epic, it’s these ornaments that will later help Ram confirm Sita’s path and bring him to Sugriv and Hanuman. The film plants the seed and then rolls the credits. The Post-Credits Scene, Beat by Beat

Once the full credits finish, the screen opens on a forest. Then you see him: a giant Hanuman, roaming through the trees. The scale is the first shock. This isn’t a monkey-god in a costume; the film makes him feel like a force of nature.

The Hanuman Chalisa plays in the background, an inspired choice, because almost everyone in an Indian theatre knows those lines by heart. Hanuman leaps into the air, the film gives you one glimpse of the kind of strength that can carry a mountain, and then he roars “Jai Shree Ram”. Cut to black.

It’s short and it’s simple, and it’s the loudest the theatre gets all night. After three hours that critics and audiences have called low on emotion, the film saves its most goosebump-worthy moment for the very end.

Why Don’t We See Hanuman’s Face?

Sunny Deol’s full face is never shown. Hanuman appears in silhouette and from behind. There are three good reasons for this:

  • Marketing: The first full look at Sunny Deol as Hanuman is now the biggest reveal left for Part 2’s campaign. Expect it to be its own event.
  • Storytelling: In the epic, Ram and Hanuman’s first meeting is one of the most emotional moments in the whole Ramayan. Saving the face for that meeting makes it land harder.
  • The VFX: A giant, superhuman Hanuman is a heavy VFX character. Keeping him in shadow in Part 1 gives the team more time to perfect the full look.

Also, a heads-up: apart from the theatre-recorded clip, many of the “Sunny Deol Hanuman first look” images going viral on social media today are fan-made or AI art. The makers have not released an official face reveal yet.

Sunny Deol as Hanuman: The Role He Was Born For?

When Sunny Deol first confirmed the role in July 2025, he wrote that he was “honoured to be part of a story that has shaped generations.” Fans have been waiting ever since. It’s hard to think of a Hindi film star whose screen image (the dhai kilo ka haath, the roar, the raw physical strength) fits Hanuman better.

And if reports are right, this is just the start. Mid-day has reported that Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra are developing a standalone Hanuman film within the Ramayana universe, with Sunny Deol being courted to lead it. Nothing is official yet, but tonight’s response to the post-credits scene can only help that case.

The Credits Tease Meghanad Too

Hanuman isn’t the only Part 2 player introduced at the end. The credits also tease Raghav Juyal as Meghanad, Ravan’s eldest son and crown prince of Lanka, also known as Indrajit, the warrior who once defeated Indra himself. If Hanuman is Part 2’s great hero, Meghanad is set up as its most dangerous fighter, and in the epic he’s the one who brings Lakshman down on the battlefield.

Ramayana Part 2 Release Date: Diwali 2028

Here’s the part that stings. When the two films were announced in November 2024, Part 2 was set for Diwali 2027. In October, Bollywood Hungama reported that the sequel was moving a year, with more shooting time needed for its war sequences and action set pieces, and that the new date would be revealed with Part 1. It’s now confirmed: Ramayana Part 2 is slated for Diwali 2028. (Everything we know so far is in our Ramayana Part 2 release date, cast and story guide.)

Two years is a long wait for a cliffhanger, but given what Part 2 has to deliver (Kishkindha, Hanuman’s leap to Lanka, Lanka Dahan, Ram Setu and the war), the extra year might be the difference between good and great.

Is the Post-Credits Scene Worth Waiting For?

Absolutely. The credits are long, as they should be for a film with a VFX crew this big, but the payoff is worth it. Our tip: use the credits to process that Jatayu sequence, read a few names, and stay put. Your theatre will tell you when it’s time to cheer.
