Citadel Honey Bunny Feature Varun Dhawan, Samantha Ruth Pabhu’s In Espionage Action

Prime Video has unveiled the title and expanded cast for the Indian adaptation of the espionage action series “Citadel,” crafted by the Russo brothers.

The Indian rendition within the “Citadel” universe will be titled “Citadel: Honey Bunny.” As previously disclosed, Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will headline the ensemble. Prabhu will embody Honey while Dhawan will bring to life the character of Bunny.

Overseen by the esteemed creative duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (collectively known as Raj & DK), who serve as showrunners and directors, the production boasts a screenplay co-written by Sita R. Menon, in collaboration with Raj & DK. Notably, Raj & DK’s “The Family Man” spy series, in which Prabhu starred in its second season, has enjoyed immense success on Prime Video.

Described as a narrative that blends the adrenaline-fueled essence of a gritty spy thriller with the tender allure of a romance, “Citadel: Honey Bunny” unfolds against the backdrop of the vibrant ’90s era, according to Prime Video.

The series boasts an ensemble cast that includes Kay Kay Menon (“Bambai Meri Jaan”), Simran (“Tiger 3”), Saqib Saleem (“Crackdown”), Sikandar Kher (“Monkey Man”), Soham Majumdar (“Pippa”), Shivankit Parihar (“Aspirants”), and Kashvi Majmundar.

“Citadel: Honey Bunny” is a collaborative effort between Raj & DK’s D2R Films, Amazon MGM Studios, and the Russo brothers’ AGBO. Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes from AGBO, alongside David Weil (“Hunters”), serve as executive producers for “Citadel: Honey Bunny” and all subsequent series within the overarching “Citadel” universe.

The forthcoming series in the “Citadel” universe is “Citadel: Diana,” set in Italy and starring Matilda De Angelis.

Following its release in April 2023, the inaugural season of “Citadel” emerged as Prime Video’s second most-watched new original series outside the U.S. and fourth most-watched globally, as per the streaming platform’s data.
