I’m Game Story: What Is It About?

Dulquer plays Dan John, an absurdly rich, spoilt young man whose life revolves around money, casinos and high-stakes gambling. His world brushes against the underworld and the murky business of cricket betting.

Everything changes after an accident leaves Dan needing a transplant. After the operation, strange things start happening to him, and the film takes a turn into fantasy. That mix of glossy gambling thriller and supernatural twist is what made I’m Game one of the most-discussed Malayalam films of the year.

It’s Dulquer’s 40th film and his return to Malayalam cinema after a stretch of Telugu, Tamil and Hindi projects. The team shot for 156 days across more than 100 locations in South India.

I’m Game Box Office: Did It Flop?

It underperformed. Originally planned for Onam, I’m Game was pushed to 3 September and opened to mixed reviews. Per Sacnilk’s figures, it collected about ₹25.54 crore net in India and around ₹47.94 crore worldwide, well short of expectations for one of the costliest Malayalam films of the year.

Like many big-scale films that struggled in theatres, it may find a more forgiving audience on streaming, especially with Hindi and Tamil dubs widening its reach.

Should You Watch I’m Game on JioHotstar?

  • Watch it if you’re a Dulquer fan, enjoy stylish action, or like thrillers with a supernatural twist. Jakes Bejoy’s music and the slick visuals are strong points.
  • Skip it if long runtimes put you off. At nearly three hours, it demands patience.
  • Tip: it’s available in Hindi, so it’s an easy pick for a family Diwali movie night across languages.
