A Screenplay With No Rulebook
Right from the opening sequence, Pushpa 2 seems determined to prioritize spectacle over substance. The screenplay feels like a patchwork quilt of random scenes stitched together to showcase a larger-than-life introduction fight scene for Allu Arjun. The problem? While flashy, this sequence has little to do with the plot.
Fast forward to the climax, and you’re treated to another grand fight scene that is again irrelevant to the story’s core. It’s as though the movie exists to justify these action set pieces rather than crafting a cohesive narrative around them.
Fahadh Faasil: The Antagonist Turned Comic Relief
In what can only be described as cinematic underutilization, Fahadh Faasil—arguably one of the finest actors of our time—is reduced to a side character with laughable motives. His character exists solely to provide comic relief, making you wonder why such a talented actor was even cast in the first place. His underdeveloped arc makes the rivalry between Pushpa and Bhanwar Singh (Faasil’s character) feel like an afterthought rather than a driving force of the story.
The Pushpa Show: Hyping Part 3
If Pushpa 2 had a tagline, it would be: “Stay tuned for Part 3!” The movie spends so much time hyping Pushpa’s next chapter that it forgets to tell a compelling story in this one. The sequel feels like a 3-hour-and-15-minute trailer for the promised rampage of Pushpa 3. While it’s clear that Sukumar is setting the stage for a grander finale, the narrative here feels like filler, leaving audiences craving more substance.

Performances: Allu Arjun Steals the Show, Others Get Lost
Allu Arjun is undeniably the heart of Pushpa 2. His charisma, swagger, and ability to own the screen make even the dullest moments bearable. However, the rest of the cast struggles to keep up. Rashmika Mandanna’s role as Pushpa’s wife is reduced to being a one-dimensional, overly lustful caricature. Her character lacks depth and feels like a missed opportunity to add emotional weight to the story.
Even the supporting cast, including Jagapathi Babu and Sunil, feels underutilized, serving as mere props in Pushpa’s journey. It’s a one-man show, and while Allu Arjun carries the movie on his shoulders, even his charm can’t save it from mediocrity.
Music and Action: Loud and Forgettable
Devi Sri Prasad’s soundtrack, which played a pivotal role in the success of Pushpa: The Rise, fails to leave a lasting impression this time around. The songs are generic, forgettable, and do little to enhance the film’s impact.
The action sequences, while grand in scale, border on absurdity. Gravity-defying stunts in slow motion may have their charm, but when overused, they become tiresome. The excessive reliance on slo-mo, coupled with poorly justified set pieces, makes the action feel repetitive and uninspired.

At a runtime of 3 hours and 15 minutes, Pushpa 2 tests the audience’s patience. The additional intro and climax fight scenes feel like padding, dragging the narrative unnecessarily. The pacing struggles to maintain momentum, leaving viewers exhausted by the end.
Pushpa 2: The Rule delivers on the masala entertainment front but fails to justify its length or narrative choices. Allu Arjun shines as Pushpa, but the lack of a cohesive story, underwhelming use of Fahadh Faasil, and forgettable music make this sequel a flawed experience. Instead of offering a satisfying continuation, the film feels like a placeholder for the next installment.
